Emily Blunt revealed in an interview with People magazine that her Oppenheimer co-star Cillian Murphy didn’t want to be a part of many of the group’s activities.
According to Blunt, Murphy justified this by saying that he had an enormous amount of responsibility and assignments that were quite overwhelming.
“We were all in the same hotel in the middle of the New Mexico desert,” Blunt said. “We only had ourselves. Me and Matt [Damon] were roommates and we said, ‘Let’s go eat.'”
Murphy didn’t participate because “the sheer volume of what he had to take on and shoulder is so monumental,” she added.
“Of course he didn’t want to come and have dinner with us,” said Matt Damon. “He couldn’t. His head was just too full.”
The actor, best known for his role in Peaky Blinders, will star in an upcoming Christopher-Nolan film for the first time . This is also the most important leading role of his career so far. The immense pressure that goes with it made him feel isolated.
“When you have these big roles, these responsibilities, it kind of feels overwhelming,” he told People.
Oppenheimer is slated to hit theaters on July 21, 2024.
